Sunday in the South

Sunday was day 3 of our vacation. Josh was able to get a little football in . We drove to the town right before you get to South Padre, Port Isabel. We had lunch at a very authentic Mexican restaurant.(Very excited about that!) After lunch we explored the "downtown" area. They had this beautiful light house. When I saw it, I said, "Oh I need a picture of that."Melody just ran up to the light house, super fast. It was very funny. She looks so small in this picture.
Next we went to a Sea Life Center. Here the kiddo's enjoyed watching and touching some of sea life. Luke liked the eel. It was pretty strange looking. I wonder if this is the same breed of eel that is in Princess Bride?!
It took Melody a little while before she wanted to hold some of the little crabs and starfish. Once she did, she was loving it.

Out side of the Sea Center they had some fun cut outs and some guy with birds.

Here is Josh with a bird. Melody didn't want to hold the bird.
The pictures are a little out of order, but here's Melody with a starfish.
A crab.
Luke went around pointing and talking his caveman talk to all the fish.
We brought a family size frozen dinner and watched a little football.

Melody is our little fish. She just LOVES the water. She enjoyed the pool so much.

This was back at the Sea Life Center. There was a Pirate restaurant. We took a peek inside.
Oh aren't we cute! Melody actually took this picture, pretty good!
At the end of a small rain we got to see this full rainbow from our patio. So beautiful.

South Padre Day Two = Luke turns 1!

On Saturday it was Luke's first birthday. Josh took the kids down to the beach while I baked a cake for his "superman party". The day was a little over cast . We told Melody that we were going to see sea turtles on Tuesday. But before she went to bed on Friday night she asked if we could see the turtles in the morning, because she was so excite. So we said,"Sure". Her sweet little face lit up and went to sleep with a huge smile. Here is Melody at the Sea Turtle Rescue.

Luke held on to daddy pretty tight when he saw the turtles.
This little guy looks like he is smiling.

Luke got to lick the stirring batter stick of his cake.

Well day 2 was another wonderful time.

10 years + 2 kids = Vacation Day one

It's been 10 years since Josh and I said "I Do". We have so much in our lives to be thankful for. We have been planning and saving for almost a year to take a good long vacation. We left last Thursday and headed to South Padre Island. I picked Melody up from Pre-school and headed off to Dallas to get Josh. Melody was so excited to see the tall building daddy was working at. Then we drove for about about 3-4 hours and had dinner at Wendy's outside of Austin. Luke was so happy to be out of his car seat. He walked around and around tables there. Then we were off for another 5 hours. A lovely cop in San Fresno stopped me in a speeding trap about 15 minutes from our condo! I was so bummed. We decided to just let it go and get to our room, now it was bout 1:30 in the am. When we got to the condo, it was everything we were hoping for. It was such an awesome view of the beach. When the kids settled down Josh and I sat on the balcony and enjoyed!
The next morning Melody came into the room and gave me a jewelry box and said," This is because daddy loves you." In the box was a beautiful pair of diamond earrings! What a awesome anniversary surprise! Then we were off to the beach.
This is how we toted everything from our room to the beach on these handy dandy carts. Josh dug holes and placed the kids in them. Luke thought it was great.
Josh brought his sand wedge and practiced his swing.
Luke practiced his drag.
This was Melody's favorite thing to do. Josh would take her out in the waves.
The first day, Luke was a little scared of the water and preferred the sand.
Melody couldn't get enough of the ocean.

Time for sand fun!
Lots of sand.
Lots and lots of sand.
Melody's turn for the hole experience.
After nap and lunch we all enjoyed the balcony. Luke loved sitting in his own chair.

This was the view from our room.
Josh and Luke singing.
Melody and daddy time.
We had a wonderful dinner at Blackbairds. It was so yummy. We ate calamari, onion rings, crab cakes, ahi ahi, mashed potatoes, and corn dogs. We had so much food, we were able to have it for dinner the next night.
Our first day was perfect. I took so many pictures. I will try and post my favorites in the few days. Good times, Awesome times!
